Krust asked what freq and it got me to thinking (smell the smoke? graemlins/thefinger.gif )

First off how many are going to have radios? I know I will have one in the rig and one set up at camp. DToy can you bring the radios you have and your big antena?

Now here is my idea. My race radio has 12 freq's programed into it and you can not change them. Dtoy has the same type of radios and chances are that we do not have all of the same freq's but we will have a few that are the same.

There are 11 trails and I am thinking that each trail should have it's own freq so they can chat away and not interfere with folks on a diffrent trail. There will also be a main freq for base camp, Thats 12. We will pick a comon channel (between Dtoys radio and mine) for base camp and Dtoys trail.

I dont have a copy of my freq list with me so I can't give examples of all the freq's but my suggestion is we use wx man freq fo base camp which is 151.625 Dtoy should have BFG or SCORE freq's so we will use one of them for Dtoys run. Todd's trail will use my race freq (not that I "own" it but I use it) which is 151.475

Well you get the idea, what do you think??? If it sounds like this is what the Benders want to do, I will assign freq's to the trails and print out a copy of all the freq's for the lead and TG for each trail as well as some copies for the base camp.

I have three of the FRS style units, planned on handing them out to my tail and mid gunner.

Yeh, I'm thinkin CB's and or FRS radios for trail chat. Do all the trail runs have atleast 1 rig with one of those race/ham radios?

Dont know if every trail will have one or not thus the question of who all have one? What are the freq's of the frs radios? Frs and cb are good on the trail but wont make it to camp??

On Todd's trail I will have one and Gary has one. Joe is getting one.

Krusty's trail...Krusty will have one

Dtoys trail Dtoy will have one

Othere than that I am not sure?

I think that we could do it kinda like TDS did---- C/B for each run---- (like; I could be on #2, WB-#3 claw #4,OL #5- etc--)- and 'race' radios all on the same freq--
IF i couldn't raise camp on 2m---- someone should be able to hear me and relay !(down in the hole behind two mt.ranges)---
Rob said he would run 'rescue/repair/parts' and he should have a 2m-
(i also have three FRS 'family band' radios, two C/B portables)

I think a good CB can reach camp from the top of the sand bailout on sledge.(not my POS but the CB shop dude thats running Sledge with us said his would) Should we have one channel for CB and FRS that are monitored at base camp?

I doubt that FRS would reach--- but a C/B in camp would be a good idea !!! like on #1 or something---

Othere than that I am not sure? JC, just remember, my radio won't transmit on
the 151MHz range. Just 144MHz - 148MHz.

I like chevys, they make great photos ops when in pulling them out of the mud with my 4runner.
