View Full Version : What can I do?

Okay, so I don't have the rig to be a trail leader or tail gunner. What can I do to help? On-site stuff, or pre-event prep, setting up base camp?

What things do we need? I figure we can use a trailer or two to set up a stage for the raffle. Do we have arrnagements for a PA system? Generators to power it? Raffle tickets? (I've got a roll here.)

We need your tickets. PA system from Lance (POD), who I just talked to. Bring a generator if you have one. Tail gun for me on SunBonnet??

Cool! I'll see what I can do about a generator. Any idea of how much wattage we need?

your heep would do Aftershock !!!!!!!(if you think you could keep up with me in a toyota !

Seems like we could use a couple generators (depending on power out) for PA, lots of camp lites, a good table-(sign ups and paperwork-takeing the moneys etc), something to put tickets in for the drawing, signs made up for the trail-leaders/trails, board to post rules, runs, times etc-, a couple to organize the raffle (number prize packages, and raffle prizes--list them by # for the announcer-- (I think the 'main' prizes should be MIXED with the smaller prizes, not first or last)-- odds and ends like tape (duct, masking, scotch), pens, stapler, paper, magic markers,----------

We also potentially need to find a club that is willing to do the dinner before the raffle. Mike, do they snappers have any history doing that, any chance they'd be interested.

We still don't have a title sponsor :(

Gonna do it---- (just gotta clear it with da boss--) but front and rear of each longer run needs to have communication on the run !- if each longer run had a 2m, it would be great !!
(I know with 20 rigs, there WILL BE breakage !! and a slow go !!)
that radio--- is with antenna ?????

that radio--- is with antenna ????? Nope, the antenna is extra. Normally in the range
of $60 - $70. You can get a 1/4 wave antenna for
a 2M radio and the mast is only about 18" high.
That's perfect for a trail rig. It doesn't get caught
on brush and rocks. I put one on the buggy.
Get one made by Larsen (Radiall/Larsen).
Type = NMO B base, NMOQ C mast.

Dont you have to get licenses and stuff like that to run a 2M? What about a peaked and tweaked CB? Is a "race" radio always a 2 meter?

Does anyone have a lead on 2M handheld radios?
These would be much more convenient/useful than mobile units.

I think we need to have a "repair person" at base camp that can go out "HELP" I.E. take parts out to those in need.... Which brings me to the point that maybe we should try and bring some of our old Toy parts out there for just in case stuff..

J arms
Birfs
axles
old steering box
leaf spring front/rear
fuel pump
or any thing else that can be used to get people back to the lake bed, where the parts can be removed/returned...

Just an idea..

But your right !----
I've got a couple knuckles and maybe a few things---4.10 third !
gittin short on hubs, barf joints, axles (even tho I got a couple axles)
But if we had a 'rescue' crew-- or someone listening on the 'base' radio-----it would be GREAT !!! :D

Just an idea.. Hey guys, I'd be willing to do something like that. although I dunno my way around 'that' well, I'm sure I could figure it out. I've got a handfull of the trail heads marked out with the GPS, only one or two missing. course, I dunno if I could make it up all the trails to deliver parts either  oh well it'll get figgerd out.

I don't want to infringe, but, what ever you guys need, I'll do what I can to help, before, durning and after.

Okay..... I want to help. I volunteer my services to whatever needs to be done. (hey watch it...this is a professional environment.... graemlins/thefinger.gif )

I could possibly be going...if not, Rob will be there for sure. If I get it off, with the new job and all we will be there Friday night, or Saturday morning. That is just the way it might have to be. If I don't get it off, then Rob could be there maybe that Thursday. But we'll wait and see I guess.

But if there is anything I can do, and send it down with Rob, I want to do it. Just to help you boys out. Let me know.... :D

i've got the PA/mic/speaker setup covered.

i figure 2 PA type speakers, (smaller than i had at roxy bash) a mic, and a cd player should cover us..

how many people do we think we're gonna have for the raffle? and do we think we're gonna need some seats for the raffle like tds does?

What ever came of the idea to hand out trash bags at the registration table? I think we should promote the idea of keeping the trail clean. Do you guys need a few of us to bring trash bags? Is there any loose ends you guys need help with? Its getting close and I aint seen much talk about the "plan" I know ya'll might be talkin about it in the Bender only section. Let me know if ya need help.
