CAMPING AND FACILITIES
Camping is allowed south of Post 2 on the beach and in the open dune area. Vault toilets and chemical toilets are provided, but water must be brought in and trash must be packed out. Campsite reservation information can be obtained by calling 1-800-444-7275. Campsites are available by reservation year-round and can be made from 10 days to six months in advance. Reservations are highly recommended, especially for holiday periods.

High tides, heavy rains, and blowing sand determine whether or not you can drive down the beach without getting stuck. Access to the OHV and camping area may be restricted periodically by Arroyo Grande Creek which is subject to water releases at Lopez Dam and increased flow during winter storms.

Beach camping is recommended for 4- wheel drive vehicles only. A dump station, located on Le Sage Drive, 1/10 miles North of Grand Ave. on Hwy 1, is available to campers.

Last year we came home from the Rubicon, and stopped by there... got 2 tickets for camping in the wrong area and for not having any "Current" registration. Beware... oh and they stopped me for speeding. I was doing 15mph in a 5mph zone!! hahaha I had never been there before... and that kind of left a sour taste in my mouth :(

We will be heading out to the Con on the 24th - 28th or so... maybe we'll see you there. We'll probably get there mid week and camp on the beach...

First time I went there, didn't make reservations in advance, they would only give me a day pass. Told me that the max number of vehicles had been reached. I parked in the middle of camp and went out early the next morning into town and got another day pass. They supposedly will check and ticket.

Hey guys, I think Jen and I might be able to cruise out for Fri/Sat... I haven't read the whole post, but do you think there will be room on the beach for us to park the rig/trailer? We'll be tent camping... thanks ;)

For the record, we'll be leaving this Fri (22nd) and heading to the Con. Leave Tues or so, and head to Fordyce. From Fordyce we'll head back down to Pismo (Fri) and head out Sat midday for the return/washup/rejuvenation at the casa Sat night and Sunday.

They won't even know right?? I could leave the truck and trailer around the corner on the street or in a parking lot. No??

i'm planning on gettin out early and bein up there before sunset...but we all know me and my ability to get to a camp spot at a decent hour :emb:. it'd be nice to know how to go about checkin in the 3 vehicles that are headin up if for one reason or another we pull in late.

unless you have a reservation, you wont be able to get in late... day passes go fast and and are ONLY good for the day (meaning you cant camp overnight)

yes, they do check and ticket. i've actually got 2 reservations (the place that I reserved them on only allowed for one vehicle at a time) starting july 29 and going for 3 days.

so if I get in late enough that the rangers aren't there i'd ASSume I'd just go check in with them in the morning :confused:

graemlins/rose1.gif it was good times for my first trip to pismo.

my group got there before sun up and actually got to hang out some on friday night.

from what I understand the weather was a lot better than normal.

blastin around the dunes in the f-toys, x-chasis, and quad was a lot of fun.

it was great to see air bag and marlin out and about.

everyone who was still awake on saturday night found out the hard way that aaron and I are the sucketh at setting off mickey bombs, and that lemooron is much better at them.

sunday everyone bailed pretty early but my little group stayed to play more. finally bailed about 3pm.

got home safe and sound with no broke parts, got to hang out with friends, met new people, and drank lots of :beer:. I'd say it was a great friggin weekend :D
